The Medical Faculty team played the finals against the Management Faculty and won comfortably to capture the trophy.
Vacancy Notice: Pre-Interns to serve as research assistants for National Non Communicable Disease (NCD) Risk factor survey – 2014
The above island wide survey is being implemented by the Ministry of Health (MoH) with adoption of STEP wise approach from World Health Organization (WHO). The major activities of the survey are gathering key information on risk factors with a questionnaire, measuring physical wellbeing and collecting blood samples for simple biochemical analysis. Questionnaire will be administered at the households and physical measurements and drawing blood samples will be done at a local clinic setting.
Ministry of health is planning to recruit forty (40) pre-interns who could serve as research assistants.
Jaffna Medical Association has planned to conduct Road rules awareness week. In view of that, a poster competition on Road rules among Medical students has been conducted.
The topics for the students who had put their entries to take part in the competition have been given at the discussion with Dr. T. Ambalavanar held on 9th May 2014 at ITC, Faculty of Medicine.
The Jaffna Medical Association has planned to conduct Road rules awareness week in June. A drawing competition - poster preparation on road rules is to be held alone with the medicos week 2014. Students are expected to draw their poster on topics such as;

Third session of Young Medical Scientific Forum was conducted on 07th of February 2014 at 4.p.m in Lecture Hall 1.
The Programme coordinator for the day was Mr.Akilan from 34th batch who made the day pleasant with his words.
The Medical Students’ Union had instructed the organizing committee of above mentioned event to send a report to MSU and this is the report received from Mr.K.Sivasuthan of 35th batch, the secretary of Pongal Vizha oranizing committee.
Thai pongal festival celebration “Thai pongal” celebration was held on 14th January 2014 at faculty of medicine, university of Jaffna. It was organized by the committee which was formed by the students of all batches of faculty of medicine, university of Jaffna. There are 15 members in this committee.
On that day we started to prepare the pongal at about 7 a.m. This event was started by the president of the committee. Most of our students were participated in the preparation of the pongal. The pongal was prepared at about 10 a.m. We worshiped the god sun and distributed the pongal to the participants. Then the first part of the celebration was finished at about 11 a.m.
